Operator Please Cancel Stiff Kitten Gig
Aussie Pop outfit Operator Please have cancelled their upcoming Belfast gig “due to unforeseen professional commitments.”, with a rescheduled gig planned for sometime in autumn.
Which is a damn shame, as Cadence Weapon was the support. Probably one of the most interesting and progressive “indie” hip-hop artists out there at the moment, Cadence has released some fantastic material. Including a remix of Super Extra Bonus Party’s Everything Flows. Not just the normal bling and bitches + timbaland formula that’s saturating the scene at the moment, Cadence Weapon seems to go at lengths to cross genres for the best sounds.

Also doing the rounds is the new Girl Talk mash-up laden album Feed The Animals. With over 300 different samples it’s a bit of an earful and apparently a litigious minefield.
But after a week’s constant listening I’m confident that I’ll never grow bored. Some of it’s pure genius, like on track two mixing Rich Boy’s Throw Some D’s in to Rod Stewart’s Forever Young sampling some Cool Kids on the way then in to Blackstreet’s No Diggity via Kanye West and The Band, suddenly we’re half way through the third song. Later on Jay-Z is found rapping on top of some Radiohead, which will probably sit quite well with him these days.

Feed The Animals here for whatever price you fancy. Though spending $5 allows you to download flac versions and $10 makes you a key defendant in the upcoming copyright lawsuits…
